Competent Crew
The Competent Crew is a great hands on course for complete beginners, and an ideal introduction to: cruising, going through the equipment on board while teaching you personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of the crew of a cruising yacht.
With a maximum of 4 students on board our 12m yachts (rather than the RYA recommended 5) you will have plenty of room to move around and also plenty of time with your experienced instructor.
You will be spending the complete week on board the yacht visiting the beautiful areas of the Canaries away from the beaten track.
Pre-course experience
You don't need any experience for this course - just a willingness to learn.
Ability after course
After this course you will become a useful crew member who is able to helm (steer the yacht), handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day yacht management.
Minimum age?
Please note that there is no minimum age for this course - but you will need a willingness to learn, and an ability to understand sailing terminology.

- курс RYA (аренда яхты с обучающим инструктором. Максимальное количество студентов на одного инструктора - 5)
- размещение на яхте – с Пятницы по Пятницу

Day Skipper
After completing the RYA Day Skipper Practical course you will be competent to skipper a small yacht in familiar waters in daylight.
This course is perfect if you are looking to charter a yacht, with your friends or family, in the Mediterranean such as the Ionia, Greece, Croatia or the Balearics.
The course is continual assessment so no big exam at the end. Our courses are all 6 days long (rather that the RYA recommended 5 days) to give you an extra day to consolidate.
The RYA recommends that you have:
-
been on a sailing yacht yacht (of under 24 metres) for 5 days, covered 100 miles
-
have experience of helming and trimming sails (see the RYA Competent Crew course for details)
-
experienced sailing in the dark, preferably for at least four hours, on board a sailing yacht
-
knowledge of basic navigation including chart work and tides to RYA Day Skipper Theory level (It is recommended that you attend the RYA Day Skipper shore based course which can be completed either on line or in our classroom – please contact us for more details).
We do understand that it is important to you that you complete the RYA Day Skipper Sailing course. We haven't dropped our standards - you still have to complete all the elements of the course, so we can't guarantee you will pass - but what we do is promise to do everything we can by reviewing our courses, number of persons on board and now offer a SECOND CHANCE to complete your Day Skipper - a great GUARANTEE
Coastal Skipper
Ability after completing all elements of the course:
Skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day and night
We teach RYA Coastal Skipper Sail courses in Tidal waters - so your course completion certificate not only international recognised, but is valid to sail all over the world (non-tidal certificates are limited to the Mediterranean)
Pre-course experience:
15 days, 2 days as skipper, 300 miles, 8 night hours
Assumed knowledge:

Boat handling to the standard of the Day Skipper practical sail cruising course

Navigation to the standard of the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory course.

YM MCA Offshore
The RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence is the ultimate aim for aspiring skippers. It proves your competence and experience as a captain, and is the most widely known and accepted qualification in the world.
Ability after course: skipper a yacht on passages by day and night within 150 nm of a safe haven. Commercially skipper a yacht (with a commercial endorsement) up to 24m.
he RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence is an assessment of your theoretical knowledge, seamanship and practical skills. It:
-
may be used commercially (with a sea survival, PPR and an MCA medical) order to work on board a commercial vessel of up to 200gt up to 150 miles from a safe haven
-
is a pre-requisite for the MCA's Officer of the Watch qualification, which enables you to work worldwide on vessels of up to 3000gt.
The qualification can also be commercially endorsed.
Yachtmaster Sail Certificate of Competence:
There are two levels of sail examination depending on your experience:

Yachtmaster Coastal for sail for up to 20nm offshore
-
Yachtmaster Offshore for sail up to 150nm offshore
Yachtmaster Power / Motor Certificate of Competence:
Like the Sail exam CoC the Motor licence is available at two levels:

Yachtmaster Coastal for power (also called motor) up to 20nm offshore
-
Yachtmaster Offshore for motor up to 150nm offshore
Pre-course experience:
The requirements for the Yachtmaster Offshore are laid down by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). This is laid down as:
-
50 days seatime
-
mileage - 2500 nautical miles, of which at least 1250 nm must be in tidal waters
-
passages - five qualifying passages of over 60nm (including two of which you have to be skipper) on a yacht of between 7m and 24m LOA
-
VHF radio operators certificate - GMDSS or RYA / MCA VHF (SRC) certificate (please note that the IYT VHF certificate is no longer accepted)
-
first aid certificate that has been taken within the last 3 years (or 5 years for STCW95) that complies with the MCA guidelines
While the MCA defines the minimum experience for Yachtmaster Offshore in quantitative terms, what is more important is quality of experience in different geographical areas and weather conditions.
